We all know social media is a great way to do this and so in 2016 I set up The Locals Business Directory (TLBD) – online business directories via Facebook – for businesses to advertise their products and services, and meet up with other business people in their own region.

It proved a hit. The first woman I introduced on TLBD gained her first client and 100 likes within a few days. It also got me thinking – what small business has time to get savvy on social media when they’ve got so many other things to do?

I established Social Media Inc a month later to help small to medium-sized businesses set up and manage their social media pages.
